My grandfathers name was Anthony
Gagliardi and he was a cordwainer {the traditional term for someone who
crafts footwear}.
In 1933, he lived the American
Dream by opening his first retail store in historic Larchmont, New
York. It was a successful family run business that specialized in
making and selling children's shoes. Through the 1960's and 1970's,
the business grew and my family opened four additional retail outlets.
In 1976, after working alongside
my Grandfather, my father, Anthony Gagliardi Jr., decided to open his
own store in Scarsdale, New York. Although the industrial
manufacturing of footwear had superseded the traditional art of
crafting shoes by hand, he still took the principals he had learned
from his father as the foundation for his own business. |
He
called his new store Heathcote Bootery, named for the section of
Scarsdale where he opened his doors and where, over 30 years later,
the business still stands today.
Now in
its third generation, Heathcote Bootery still applies the same
founding principals my Grandfather instilled in the family business;
Offer the best product you can and provide the best customer service
possible.
Over
the years we have built on this foundation to create our own unique
approach:
First,
we care about fitting each customer that walks through our door. It's
not about selling the latest style or highest priced shoe in the
store, it's about selling you the right shoe for your feet. We even
keep a record of your purchases on file so we can reference your
child's progress |
and we send you a reminder card every 3 months for the first two
years.
Second, we forge relationships with customers that last for
generations because we treat
them like family. If you find you have to return something, we'll never give you a store credit. You'll be refunded by
the same method to which you originally paid.
Third, we pride ourselves with
having the largest selection of the latest styles in stock on our
shelves. If we don't have your size {perish the thought}
we'll order it for you at no additional charge.
So, from my family to yours,
stop in to see us sometime {even if it's just to look around} and
you'll see why over 30 years of experience makes a difference. |
